WELCOME TO MAIN STATE

Welcome to Main State, a beautiful place so blessed with resources so precious as silver and gold, but sadly most are abandoned, laid to waste, even the human resources are not well equipped or managed.

When I take a stroll through the place, I always stop to catch my breath, what catches my eye, a sight not so easily forgotten. The mad man of Main State are at it again, with reckless abandon they carry out their act, with selfish motives and sugar coated lies to serve, they ascend to the office, the place of power; looting the treasury is a number one priority, the welfare of the people who put them in power is not their major concern, their avarice takes center stage, we need help the Eagle is falling.

Corruption wears a crown and has dug its roots deep into the system, spreading vastly like as contagious virus, the butterfly effect is crippling, bringing down every aspect of the economy. To mention but a few; health is failing; for the love of God, the health sector needs to be revamped, just because a lot of us have access to basic medical care either through public or private services does not mean that it’s the same story for the rest of us.
How many are walking around like living corpses?
How many will fall before the issue is grabbed by the jugular?
Concerning the issue of fake drugs, everyone can attest to the battle fought by the former Director General of NAFDAC, Late Professor Dora Akunyuli, thinking that it would soon become a thing of the past. What’s happening now? The people responsible for this must be snuffed out and not allowed any room to operate.

Education is crumbling, it is no secret that the educational sector needs to be revamped, and the culture of reading to pass amongst majority must be dethroned. Apart from the mandatory industrial training, I think the government should liaise with companies and industries in the locality of the school and engage the students in a course for community development projects on or off campus which are related to their course of study. The students could be grouped within the department or across departments, for example, after studying the terrain, students from the architecture and civil engineering departments can form a group to embark on a mini-project such as the design and construction of a pedestrian bridge; a large percentage of the project should be provided from the university funds, this would help give the students added experience and would help community development, it can also help to develop and churn out well baked graduates.

Power is sick; it is an important aspect of the economy and has become a case of different strokes for different areas. Now you see me, now you don’t, they have been playing this game since I was a child. Some areas are just more fortunate than others, I guess it rotates. I can’t begin to buttress the negative impact upon the economy, it’s crippling. The name re-birth didn’t change much; character is like smoke, you can’t hide it.

Housing is poor and most roads are in a deplorable state. Sports development is just another sector that needs more input. When I think about our problems as a nation, sometimes I think about probable solutions. In the area of sports, if at the State or Local government area level, the government holds an Olympic event which encompasses all active sports and gradually with time include new sport event either every two years or at a four year interval, it would help to develop and encourage sports men and women and this could also help to properly utilise the State sports facilities. Just imagine if each state should implement something of this nature, it would tremendously improve sports development. I figure that it would be easier for the government to get corporate sponsorship and be more financial viable to handle a project of this magnitude. Let the truth be told corporate organisations are indeed playing a good role and some leaders are trying in that regards.

This big issue called corruption has eaten too deep like a cancerous cell; it would cause chaos and mayhem. Even when proper funding is provided from the top, down the ladder, things fall apart because somebody somewhere will not take the right action and do the right thing. Disaster looms and we are still suffering and smiling, the pain behind the smile would soon show on the face, many have fled in search of greener pastures, but have not been as fortunate as they soon find out that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Is there any hope for Main State? Will it ever become the best place to live in?
Only time will tell, if we only join hands and rub minds together, we could achieve great things for the betterment of all and Main State the envy of all.

The fire is raging and not many are bothered enough to try and put it out. This action begs me to ask, where are the patriots? Those selfless serving leaders, who value the people, uphold strong morals and cherish having a good name above silver and gold. Though there are some worthy of note, who are exemplary, establishing laudable projects, but their strength in numbers is much desired, desperately needed. Where are they now? Or have they all gone with the wind?

My mother used to tell me about the groundnut pyramids that have disappeared a long time ago. The agricultural sector was booming and was the mainstay of our economy but the discovery of black gold which should be a blessing seems to have done more harm than good. Easy money has breed cancerous corruption, many are in neck too deep to even start any righteous battle against corruption, and their silence over this matter is deadly. How long will we remain this way? Unless we come together to build our home, we may never know what it is like to experience true stability. The recent whistle blower initiative by the government is indeed a most welcome development.

We are blessed no doubt, with abundance of natural resources, land and manpower but sadly this has not translated into an almost perfect economy. If only many of our leaders who strive to be and stay in power, would look at the big picture and set attainable developmental goals to change the face of the Nation, we would continue to run this same rat race and never get out of it.

We can complain all we want about a lot of things, but the bottom line remains the same “Don’t wait for the government”, it is really not advisable to wait for the government to put necessary machinery in place before we can actualise our dreams. Our goals, our passions, our desires are diverse, to each his or her own. So as we work out our salvation, we need to work a way out for ourselves, each individual’s definition of success is quite relative; it all lies between you and your God.
On their part, people in power need to pay good attention to true governance and ensure to properly sensitise the public on services rendered, there’s a lot of work to be done to move this Nation forward.
On our part, we must work to ensure that in our niche, we practice what we preach and be the change we seek, and also never fail to always pray for this Nation and her leaders.
May God bless this Nation, may God bless her people and make us GREAT.

SUNRISE : WIN OR DIE

Life is filled with its ups and downs, sometimes we have a good reason to smile, laugh and be in a celebratory mood but at other times one could be left in pain and tears, left to reel in disappointments of fallen expectations. No one is exempted from this experience, the poor face it, and the rich also face it.
This is how life rolls; there would be good times, tough times and very difficult times, the choice we make when facing these situations will determine our next level, a new phase for better or for worse.

No one was born with all the information they need to survive in this world, which is why learning never stops. Not everyone will feel the need to spell everything out for you in black and white or try to open your eyes when they sense your ignorance. You would probably only learn when something hits you, either good or bad, it could be a great experience that will help re-shape your life, if only you allow it to.
Some experiences can be so bad that it throws one’s mind into darkness, we get to have a bad taste of how wicked people can be or sometimes get to learn how great God is.

I am not perfect, nobody is perfect, we cannot always be lucky to have things happen our way all the time because time and chance happeneth to them all (Eccl. 9:11), but our response (positive) rather than our reaction (negative) is quite vital to our survival.
We can choose to win over every circumstance, every situation we find ourselves by having the right attitude, it may not always be easy as a Sunday morning but it is worth a trial. When we choose to win, we keep our hopes alive. Hope is the last thing anyone should lose, because when it is gone, everything will be lost.

A positive attitude goes a long way to open doors of elevation, and is highly rewarding. Choosing to win increases one’s determination to succeed, establishes focus, increases hope and faith. The power of  a positive mind set cannot be so easily defeated, even when faced with failure, disappointment, setbacks, defeat, the mind resets to starting again, never giving up, putting more effort, finding a way to achieve the goal, for where there is a will there is a way. It reflects positively in decision making, going up is the only way forward.

The reverse is the case when we choose to die. Emotions can sometimes be hard to control but the man that can exercise control over his emotions is king. We choose to die when we fail to keep our head up and be in control of our negative emotions. Exhibiting the wrong attitude towards work, people and situations can force a closed door situation and break the ladder of elevation.

A negative mind set can be easily destroyed and can destroy. Choosing to die diminishes all hope and kills the spirit. This choice, more often than not leads one to live a desert life, the thoughts of success can only be seen as a mirage, disappearing into thin air each time we think we have arrived.

The choice to die is highly evident in having a bad attitude, a negative reaction towards life. Most times when one realizes his or her mistake, it might be too late to turn the tide. The pangs of regret begin to bite, soothed painfully by the solemn tune of ‘had I known’, such a pitiful tune, played back to back at a pity party, the worst kind of party to attend.

Though there are times when we have our backs against the wall, we know we are being cheated and being taken undue advantage of, we have no choice but to react, it could be the only way out that would bring positive results, and even at that wisdom needs to be employed to minimize or completely eliminate the chances of an uprising, fatality or near fatality, a breakdown in the management of relationships and so on. It can be laudable at times when you have to get out of your comfort zone and fight for your right, fight for what is right and take a stand for a good cause. There is always a price to pay so before you act, stop to think and ask yourself, if the end will justify the means.

The power to choose lies in our hands, we can choose to win, brave the storm and steer  the ship till we reach the ocean shore or we can choose to die and sink to the ocean floor or land in murky waters.
The choice ultimately is ours to make.

POWER OF SERVICE

Great power and consequent riches lies in offering services sometimes we find ourselves in a fix and we ask, what can I do?. Such a simple question but the answer seems far-fetched, but there is a solution to this question that lies in finding out the needs of others, studying the immediate environment, community or world at large and finding out its needs, while also discovering in what capacity one can offer service to meet those needs.
There is always a need to be met, a vacuum to be filled, even if someone else is already executing the same idea, employing the power of one’s creativity will make the idea to stand out.
The answer also lies in learning how to make life and tasks easier for people in any niche and creatively discover how to satisfy these needs and make work less stressful and more enjoyable.

The power lies in us.

SUNRISE : PHASES

IMAGINATIONS

Thoughts are seeds, planted through the inspiration of beliefs and dreams, brought to limelight by the one empowered to see the vision of the future.

Through unspoken words or ideally crafted pictures, they give life and hope to the bearer.
Step by step with faith, courage, the grace of God and wisdom to direct, amoebic thoughts - the springboard  to success captured by how far the mind can see begin to take shape and gradually form beautifully in reality.

Then the big ' IF ' and ' BUT ' rears its ugly head because fear and doubt  try to cast their shadow over the big picture, trials join the party like a tempest storm, nothing good ever comes easy. The road is filled with potholes and the sea is not smooth sailing, sink or swim the mind contemplates.

Only the willing and able will strive through its turmoil, because the power of the hope of a better future stands strong and will faint not.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, hard work pays, the sweat of the body will not be in vain. Walk, run, fly and soar higher, spreading the wings of imagination like an eagle boundless from coast to coast, the view from the top is beautiful through the eyes of the beholder.
Look to the horizon, sunset beckons, the evening tide gently rolls in and darkness creeps in over the earth.

There is time for everything and the set time is now. Rise up like the super sun; let the world behold the glory of the shining in which you were created.  If you can believe it, then you can achieve it.

The world awaits you.

RESOLUTIONS

Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock the clock sounds in earnest, beating in resonance with the heart, announcing to all who cares to listen that time is of the essence and is running fast, waiting for no man. The seconds turn to minutes, minutes turn to hours, hours turn to days, days turn to weeks, and weeks turn to months which are known for the seasons they usher in.

Season in, Season out; man walks about in circles, each desiring a change of direction but not having enough willpower or strength to enforce change.

Plans are made coined beautifully by the name ‘Resolutions’, but the planner is almost never resolute in strength to execute, failing each time by succumbing to the power of procrastination,  the greatest thief of time, putting off everything to be done at a later time till the years go by like a rolling stone.

Making resolutions becomes no more than a recurring bad habit that develops into character, defacing the essential personality of the man.
How will change come?
How will stories turn to glory?
How will a new name be attached to this life?

Without much gainsaying; No pain, no gain, No risk, no reward, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
It takes a strong resolve to learn to rise up above the shadows of our weakness that haunts us and submitting ourselves to the will of our creator, bowing our minds in full acceptance of our deficiencies that will welcome the spirit of change.

Change, though sometimes gradual but surely it will come eventually. Unsavory habits, bad addictions, wrong attitudes and behaviours will become a thing of the past, leaving the bearer in total liberation from the chains of their personal albatross.

Result is the perfect medicine for insult.
Make the effort to become the change you seek.
Tick Tock, Tick Tock, and Tick Tock the clock sounds in earnest.

THE HOPE OF A NEW DAWN

The dawn ushers in a new day.

The Lord's mercies have kept you still through every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every week and every month. Another year rolls by taking along with it the pains, joy, sweat, sorrow and dreams, leaving each person with their story or glory of yesterday that could linger on in the feelings of fulfillment or failure.

No one has the power to turn back the hands of time, the past is gone forever, and only the future waits.

The choices made today will determine how the journey on the long road of tomorrow will be. If we choose not to be weary, the blessings of God will keep us standing strong in glory.
In His words ever sure and true, He does make everything beautiful in its time.

As we move along in grace and wisdom, the toils of our hands would not reap rewards of futility but would bring big beautiful bountiful harvest that elevated our status quo in due season.

May the glory of our lifting be felt like the strong harmattan winds in its full force making every unwanted leaf to wither, leaving only the fruitful and able to stand item awe.

May the glory our lifting come down like the rain in its season; watering the seeds of our labour into blossoming trees and plants that decorate our world.
May the glory of our lifting arise and shine like the ever blazing super sun, the world would see and admire.

There is no hiding place for the goldfish.
A new dawn beckons, embrace it.

SUNRISE: MOTIVATION

Spirits are low, the zeal is gradually depleting, the heart grows heavy the mind is getting dull, mental alertness has fled the space seeking a better proactive place. The body still able and youthful has grown weary from the stress of too many trials.

Hope that the soul clings to seem like a distant impossibility, tomorrow looks uncertain in its coming. Through the eyes there is no difference between yesterday, today and tomorrow, it’s always the same routine, same story every day.

The tongue tries to lift the spirit by singing ' It will get better ', but it’s as if words are just not enough. Drunken and drowning in despair, discouragement and displeasure, nothing excites or moves this being from this stationery mode. Motivation ebbs away reaching an all-time low.

Au contraire, there is still some hope left, there is light at the end of the tunnel, the mind suddenly awakens, though initially bereft of hope, but the sparks of desire from the fire of dissatisfaction in the soul ignites a fresh perspective, a different kind of food for thought, highly nutritional; providing all the supplements needed to build a healthy mind. The power of positivism is born and raised by constant fueling.

Why the sudden Change?
What sparked the Flame?
There is no smoke without fire, hunger pangs have bitten too hard, the pocket has grown lean, empty, riddled with holes, and shame has played a bad game.
The screams of enough is enough begin to ring so loudly in the head like a church bell, it is time to turn the tables around.

For the man who holds strong belief in the Omnipotent One above, the words " Ask, and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matt. 7:7 KJV), increases faith for he knows in his heart that by strength shall no man prevail
(1 Sam. 2:9).

The power of prayer cannot be undermined, but prayer alone is not the only solution. Dutiful hands need to place the sign the reads
‘ACTION REQUIRED ' in an obvious location that would greet the eyes each morning. Talk is cheap; words without action will yield no fruit.

The die is cast, what better way to stay motivated than to continually act on the dreams, visions, passion that keeps us going throughout the day and will drive one to greater heights.

The spirit of motivation can be killed, dampened or demoralized; man needs to be careful of the tell-tale signs that come across along the way.
Failure is not the end of the road but a reason to try again.
Facing challenges is not a reason to give up hope but a time to rise up to the test.
Even success teaches its own lessons, that which is gained through stress and hard work can be easily lost through pride and vainglory. It is not a myth but a fact that one's attitude determines their altitude in life.

WILL.

I'm racing towards the top
But yet afraid that I might flop
The cold shivers rattle my bones
My feet stumble upon the stones

My eyes are set upon the hill
I'm pressing on by strong will
Winds of courage push me forward
Faith unshaken marching onward

There are times the mind falls so ill
Giving up is not how I feel
My everything I learn to give
So in the end that I might live

Sweet and sour the journey sure is
Often filled with wanton stories
By the grace of Jesus our Lord
I conquer being a child of God

My feet enter the promise land
Eureka!  I shout for am glad
Fountains of blessing fill the way
Am so pleased to enjoy my stay
